Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about pickleball
How did pickleball get started?

Joel Pritchard and Bill Bell were at Prichard’s home on Bainbridge Island, WA, and found themselves bored. The property had an old badminton court so the men looked for badminton equipment and could not find a full set of rackets. So, they improvised and started playing with ping-pong paddles and a plastic ball. After deciding the net height should be set at 36 inches, they invited another friend, Barney McCallum, the next weekend the three men created rules, relying heavily on badminton. From there it has evolved into the game we all know and love today.
