The dangers of rapid weight loss can range from organ damage to death in extreme cases. Chinese flyweight Yang Jian Bing died of heart failure as she attempted to cut for her fight in 2015.
Recovery mode with @coach_dave_wl Finally moving again. If you guys didn?t know I struggle with disc issues and threw one out again so I won?t be able to compete on #ufc216. Spine injuries I have to take seriously. I haven?t really posted about it because I?m just so mad that this happened again. I am so sorry to my fans who bought tickets. I love you guys and I?ll be back stronger then ever.
After putting herself through hell to fight in the strawweight division. VanZant has to focus on fighting in the 125 lbs flyweight division instead. She had a fight booked in that weight class for early October but was forced to drop out due to a back injury.
She’s looking forward to it
She told the MMA Hour: “I think that the world will see that I?m so much better at 125. I’m gonna be healthier, I’m gonna be stronger, I’m gonna be faster. I can’t wait to show that off.”
In the meantime
While Paige VanZant works her way back to full health, she plans to focus on her book titled “Rise” which is set to be released in April of next year.
