The gifs are very fake, but the story is very real. For many kids, playing sports is their escape from reality. Natural talent and drive is something you’re born with — some have it, some don’t.
This is a feel-good story out of Illinois covered by the Chicago Tribune that will remind you that there is a lot more good in the world than bad.
Just Wants To Play
A 15-year-old boy from Skokie, Illinois has that drive and ability for the game of basketball. He would basically live at the X-Sport Fitness Center to play on their basketball courts, but when his family fell on financial hard times, he was forced to give up his membership.
Started Sneaking In
So, he started sneaking into the complex so that he could play some ball. He would walk right past the front desk and go straight to the court. One time he hid in a washroom stall to avoid the fitness center employees.
Warning After Warning
X-Sports Operations Manager, Justin Pritchett, said that he had warned the 15-year-old that if he snuck in again he will have to call the police, but that didn’t stop him. The next day he was back and the police were called.
The Police Were Called
First on the scene was Skokie police officer Mario Valenti who ends up being one of the most understanding cops of all time.
