Every NFL player comes equipped with an amazing story of their own. Not all of them are heartwarming “Cinderella” tales, though.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Kwon Alexander entered the league in 2014 but has already overcome more grief than most players encounter in their entire career. With love, perseverance and the strength of family, Alexander turned tragedy into one of the more inspiring stories in the NFL.
Kwon The Family Man
To first understand Kwon Alexander, one must understand his family. Growing up in the Atlanta suburbs, family meant everything to Kwon. The bond was a tight one in the Alexander household which served as an essential foundation for Kwon’s athletic and personal growth. No relationship was stronger though than the one between Kwon and his younger brother Broderick.
A Family United
According to his parents, Kwon was the ideal big brother and the two were inseparable growing up. Broderick would support his brother’s athletic achievements while Kwon praised Broderick for unifying the family through his likable and humorous personality. Together, the two were an inspiring force and pillar of the community. Sadly, it was not to last.
Tragedy Inspired Triumphant Return For Kwon Alexander
In the 2015 NFL season, Kwon and the Buccaneers were set to play the Atlanta Falcons, just 90 minutes from where Kwon grew up. The family geared up to welcome Kwon back, but just 48 hours before kickoff, tragedy struck the Alexander household.
